ARTICLE 1 - NAME
The name of this corporation shall be Baptist Tabernacle.
ARTICLE 2 - PURPOSE
The purpose of this church shall be the advancement of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Its members shall seek to do this through faithful Christian stewardship, public worship of God, the preaching of the gospel, Christian education, evangelistic activity, missionary endeavor and support, and Christian living and social action. We accept the Holy Bible as the foundation of our faith and practice.
The church is a nonprofit entity incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within the meaning of Section 502(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, amended, and is subject to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Nonprofit Corporation Law of 1988, 15 Pa. C. S. §5101- 6145.
ARTICLE 3 - POLITY
The government of Baptist Tabernacle is vested in its members, and the membership retains unto itself the right of exclusive self-government in all phases of its life and organization. It recognizes, however, the need for mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Baptist churches. To that end, this church shall be affiliated with the Welsh/Wyoming Baptist Association, American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware (ABCOPAD), and American Baptist Churches USA. Delegates, who are members and have been appointed by the Official Board, may be sent to meetings of the above-mentioned organizations. This church shall cooperate by making all reasonable reports requested and shall stand ready to cooperate with other Christian churches in the interest of all public causes that make for the betterment of human living, and the coming of the Kingdom of God.
ARTICLE 4 – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 – Qualifications
Any person professing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is in accord with the faith and practices held by this Church, and has given evidence of having accepted the principles of the Covenant of this church, may be admitted to membership.
